10,000 Legacies was founded by Sara Markoe Hanson in 2026 to ensure that meaningful stories are not lost to time but are instead methodically documented, beautifully written, and expertly shared through quality exhibits, publications and programming.
Hanson grew up surrounded by storytellers and her Minnesota roots run deep. She has more than 30 years of experience in the history field through her roles as an interpreter, research historian and executive director. She is dedicated to honoring the unique histories of families, organizations, and communities across Minnesota and beyond through research projects, interpretive writing and grant management.
With a proven track record of more than 40 successful projects funded through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund Grants Program, also known as Legacy Grants, we can help you fund, manage and execute your project.
